From 8-13 January 2011, MFA Chairperson Ellene Sana of the Center for Migrant Advocacy accompanied members of the Philippines’ House Committee of Overseas Workers Affairs (COWA) on a field visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The delegates visited Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), embassy staff, and government officials in the cities of Jeddah and Riyadh. The visit was a follow-up to the November 2009 fact-finding mission of COWA to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the UAE to look into the situation of OFWs. Ellene Sana participated as a special consultant to the committee.
