Forum on Migrant Domestic Workers: Manila, 2011


Migrant Forum in Asia, Center for Migrant Advocacy and the Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs (House of Representatives, Philippine Congress), with the support of the Philippines office of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung welcomed six parliamentarians from four Asian countries to Manila, Philippines from May 24th-26th, 2011. These guest parliamentarians represented key States of origin in Asia – Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.

These MPs were brought together to engage with each other, with members of the House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress, and with CSO representatives on the issue of migrant domestic workers as part of the lead-up to deliberations at the 100th International Labour Conference (ILC) of the International Labour Organization (ILO), that would lead to the adoption of an International Convention on Domestic Workers on June 16th, 2011.
